Bring on the New Year

Every new year brings such anticipation and excitement for change. I look forward to "good changes" in the upcoming year. I think my word(s) for the New Year will be "slow down" and enjoy life.

New Years Eve...........enjoying it at home with my family, its the perfect beginning to good things ahead.

How will you ring it in?

Yay for Christmas decorating

I got all my Christmas bins out and I am always surprised by the decorations I have packed away from the year before, I'm like a little kid opening a present, they are always new to me

Its so fun to arrange all my vintage decorations, I love to display them in a different place each year.
My decorations are a mix of Antique Shop/Goodwill/Hand me down and gifts. I am not picky, I just love Christmas decorations.

I love my vintage lighted Christmas Tree. I bought it from my friend Deb from Garage Sale Gal. She is a very special blog friend and I love her dearly.

I tucked Mr. & Mrs. Claus next to my December angel.

My yellow shelf in the kitchen always gets holiday love

Gingerbread feels right at home here in my kitchen

This is one of my favorite holiday kitchen decorations

Would you like a gingerbread cookie? They are fresh out of the oven.......

Gonna fill my thrift store cookie jar with lots of sweet things

Tucked a few "Christmasy" things into my rolling pin bucket

Time to go check the mail

Thanks for visiting, you are welcome in my home anytime......

The Table Is Set

Finished all my baking today, I made 3 homemade pies from scratch and date nut bread, I love being in the kitchen during the holidays and I love to bake.

Finished setting my simple table.

I used a yellow tablecloth I picked up at the Goodwill, it is in perfect condition.

Dishes are a set I stole purchased from an antique shop in Upland on a little outing with my blog buddies.
My centerpiece is just a simple artificial arrangement
I don't have a runner so I used 3 placemats that I picked up at Kohl's with my Kohl's cash and they were 60% off.

I am pretty happy with my table setting

Well tomorrow there will be plenty of food to prepare for my family
Served with love

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.......

Happy Harvest

Fall is (finally) in the air......

Here in Southern California its just a hint but the nights cool off and mornings have that little chill.......definitely my favorite time of the year.

I spent the day moving things around, putting up my fall décor and all around "playing house".....

This is my shabby chic dining room. Poked a little fall among the roses.

I think I like Thanksgiving decorating best

I just put a little here and there

My sideboard in the kitchen got some fall love too

Hope you are enjoying the chill in the air and anticipation of the holiday.

Smiles,

Debbie

Unexpected Sunshine in my Mailbox

I was so excited to open my mailbox the other day and find a box from my friend Deb from
Garage Sale Gal, she has been my blog friend for the past 6 years and to say she is a blessing is an under statement.

.

She hand-made the strawberry card, she makes some amazingly adorable cards, I cherish every one of them.

She knows me so well, I adore this little "bake" sign she made me. So vintage looking.

I love embroidered towels and doilies, this sweet dish towel will be such a lovely addition to my precious collection.

Cute hand decorated clothespin and some adorable recipe cards....love it Deb, thank you for making my heart smile!

The next day I received a box from my special friend Pam from Virginia Retro, she is so thoughtful. Blog friends really are special friends.

An apron, for me? Ohhhh yes, I love it!

She made this adorable little patriotic flower pot, oh so cute. Sorry for the pic quality, I'm not that good with the camera.

Thank you Pam for sending your love and thoughtfulness, it arrived at a much needed time!

Smiles and Gratitude,

Can He Build It Or What??

I asked my husband if he could build a shelf for the blank wall in our new kitchen.....

One trip to The Home Depot and I am a happy girl!

He measured, stained the wood, hammered it all together and now I have a lovely shelf to display my patriotic decor

Love it!!

Tucked a few "red, white and blue" on my favorite yellow shelf while I was at it.
I Love the Americana theme....don't you?
