A Pedicure And A Pit Stop At The Thrift Shop

I have a pedicure every 3 weeks and it is one of those things I do for myself that pampers not only my footsies but refreshes my soul (sole). After I finished today, I popped into the Salvation Army for a quick stroll through the cast-offs. Look what I found.....

This cute little silver tray was in the display case with a $5.00 price tag on it and since the guy behind the counter could not tell me if it was real silver or not (I knew it was), I asked him if he could reduce the price and I got it for $2.50.

Now see it all cleaned up.....

I didn't know you could negotiate with the Salvation Army....but now I do!

This cute little cherub lamp is just screamin for some white spray paint and I think I might try the rub n buff technique that Cindy from My Romantic Home spoke of on her blog. Total cost $1.50.

Two new treasures for me for under $5.00. So glad I stopped to shop!

More projects to add to my never-ending list of "things I like to do".

Blessings to you,

Debbie

You lucked out with that cherub lamp! It is so rare for me to find great things at our salvation army. Maybe you were lucky because you had perfectly painted toenails.. maybe I'll try that next time! ;)

Great finds Debbie Kay! I LOVE the little Cherub lamp. I have watches on about 6 of them on eBay right now...and they all cost a whole lot more than that...guess I won't be bidding now but instead running for my nearest Salvation Army! Thanks for the tip! xoxo ~ Joy

Bargaining at the thrift store - way to go! Good finds! I think that little cherub lamp would look great painted white with some aging either that rub n buff stuff or just some dark stain or paint. That tray would make a great chalkboard!

Don't you just love the thrift stores? It is the fun of never knowing what will show up, good for you on the silver tray! I love them when they have handles, I got one at Goodwill that the handles had broken off of...I didn't care, it was so scrolly and cool, put that one in the "Man Study", looks great there! Do you like Nell Hills books? She uses silver in all her displays, love that look!
Have a great day, your toes look beautiful too,
Donna Lyn

Not sure where you live, but it always amazes me when you girls turn up really cool stuff in Goodwill and Salvation Army. The ones around here are so NOT desirable. Good job!! I really love the silver tray.

Wow Deb~
A pedi AND the Salvation Army store...you must have been feeling REALLY blessed that day, and then the great finds!!! I have a similar tray that I put candles , sand and seashells on and use it on my dining table on our patio. If you click on my Flickr badge, and go to "in the garden" set, you will see it. It's a great way to repurpose that great tray!
Have a blessed and fun weekend, Deb~

Debbie you found two awesome treasures. I can just see the lamp in shabby white. I love to paint on those trays. That one looks like a real find for only 2.50.
Don't you just love a pedicure? I have that same color polish. A good day for you all around!
