Is it rude?

Is it rude to ask visitors to take off their shoes when they enter your home? Well I find it rude to leave mine on when visiting someones home. Our home is a "shoe free" sanctuary and I needed to find a way to politely ask my friends and family to take off their shoes before entering. My good friend Joy from The Vintage Rabbit came to my rescue with this adorable sign she lovingly crafted for me and I picked it up this past weekend at La Maison Rustique....

Joy is the sweetest, super creative, fabulously talented new friend of mine and we met online through our blogs. I think it is so neat to meet ladies in the blog community and actually forge friendships beyond the daily or weekly posts..... Even though the miles separate us on a daily basis, in Southern California you can go from the beach to the desert to the mountains in a matter of 2 or 3 freeways. Thank you Joy for the adorable sign that gently reminds my visitors to leave their shoes at the door....she can make one for you too.

Hi Debbie, I don't think it's rude to ask that people take off their shoes. Lots of people here in Australia do the same thing. No matter what way you ask there will always be people who will not do it. I have that problem with my own sister.
Have a great rest of the week

The sign is adorable. People usually take off their shoes when they come into my apartment because they see our shoes sitting on the front step. I make family members take off their shoes but I don't usually ask others to. I don't think it's rude though.

Hi precious friend!
It is not rude at all! I have really awful carpet and scratched hardwoods so I don't care if people wear their shoes! Ugly floors, and I still got into a magazine!!! That just cracks me up sometimes, Don and I snicker about it a lot...
When we lived in Hawaii for 7 yrs. YOU DID NOT EVER EVER EVER wear your shoes in anyone's house it was a huge NO NO! So I think it is totally up to each person as to what they want!
Have a wonderful weekend, our family is getting Victoria packed for her move cross country on Monday...we are all so sad, me crying a ton!
Please email me when you can...

That sign is so darling! I don't think it's rude at all - especially when it looks so cute. People wouldn't even thing it was mean!

Lovely! A no shoe policy is especially necessary with our rain. Is it raining in Palmdale?

Hi Debbie,
The sign is darling and not rude at all. Yes, isn't it the best to make friends beyond the blogs. A little extra blessing! Have a Happy Memorial Day!

I like your sign... A few years ago when I was selling herbs and did a few home parties I went to a home and they hinted that I should take off my shoes but I didn't get it until I saw the guests removing their shoes. That was my first experience with removing your shoes when visiting someone. I would have understood and complied if I had seen a sign. That goes down as one of my most embarrassing moments because till I realized we were supposed to take our shoes off, it was pretty much to late for me and I just didn't know how to handle it.

Hi love the sign that Joy made! I don't think it's rude. I do it but I don't have a pretty sign. Maybe I should make one. Well I tagged you on my blog. No worries if your busy! Read my blog. Blessings Denise
