The wall that goes on forever.....

Does anyone have a wall in their home that they just don't know what to do with? I feel like I am the only person with this problem. Some (Most) of you bloggers are amazingly talented in the interior design department and I feel like an amateur.
I am always apprehensive to try something really dramatic for fear someone will come into my home and look at "my creation/vision" and say (of course to themselves) "What was she thinking"? Well I went out on a limb and painted these tiles from Southern Living a lovely shade of white and hung them above a large mirror that is mounted above my couch. The mirror is going to be moved to a different room after I find one that reflects the cottage theme I am striving for here.....clearly this one was picked out by my husband on a trip to IKEA....our first and last!

I like the way the tiles look much better now....
I don't think you are supposed to give a high wall more height but I don't know what else to do. This is probably a job for Rhoda at http://southernhospitality-rhoda.blogspot.com/ She does interior design on her website and I think I need to give her a call. I know my wall would appreciate it!
Blessings,
Debbie Kay

Hi Debbie,
I have some high walls too. I put higher furniture against them. I also add things to the top of the furniture piece, for height.
Hope that helps a little.

I agree with Rosemary, You have a great start! I love your mirror and tiles - then next to them I would add an armoire or tall bookcase. On top of the armoire or bookcase, add a group of larger items....

First of all...Do not worry what others think. It is your home and fill it with things YOU LOVE. Everyone has different tastes. You are doing well, don't think so much about it. When you least expect it, out will pop the perfect find! Found you on Pennys blog and wanted to say hello. Stop on by my blog. I am having a give away in honor of my web sites grand opening. Post a comment under "Friends are like Flowers" I would love to see you there. I am a Cali. gal too.
