Random Happenings

My amazingly thoughtful husband bought one of these AWESOME Shark mops over the weekend. We have A LOT of tile throughout the house and he knows how important it is to me that it be clean. It's a lot of work mopping it every week and he wanted to find a way to make it easier for me. Well ladies, I LOVE IT! It runs along that tile effortlessly and cleans like a dream.

On a completely different subject, I went to Bed, Bath & Beyond with a gift card my step-son gave me for Christmas and found this super duper stuff for dry, cracked heels. Seems like they are worse in the summertime but I thought I would use it during these winter months as a preventive measure......moisturize now to save my skin since the spring "flip flop" season is right around the corner.

And last but not least, I am taking heed to the much appreciated advice of my good friend Elaine at Sunny Simple Life who is a great example of thrift & frugality. As I read about her participation in the Thrifty Living Series, I am prompted and encouraged to "cut back" and find ways to live with what I have. One area we spend way too much money on is dining out. To spend $50+ on a dinner out seems so wasteful.

Now don't get me wrong, we like to get out once a week and there is nothing wrong with getting the night off from cooking, but if we can put together a family meal with leftovers, then we are making every effort to save that money. I would love to find some recipes (perhaps from bloggers) using basic leftovers and sharing ideas for getting the most out of the meals we prepare for our families. Really with just a little bit of effort I feel as if I can save money.

Hope you are having a great start to your week.

Debbie

That was very thoughtful of your husband to buy you the Shark.

I have a hard time with spending 50.00 on a meal out. It is nice to do once in a while, but I can't help but think of all the meals I could prepare with that money.

Looks like a great tool to have! In raising 8 kids, I certainly learned to make a meal and then use some of it in another meal and I love leftovers, saves a lot of money! :D

I serve leftovers all the time. Congrats on the shark.

I am coveting your Shark. It is definitely on my list of 'wants'. I use leftovers all the time, a lot of the time I plan on it. I make a lot of casseroles for that reason. I know one meal will last us two nights (4 people, sometimes 5 if my eldest daughter comes for dinner). It is a great way to save money. I know some people do not like to eat the same thing two nights in a row but I have never had a problem with it, as long as the meal is tasty!

ps. Just found your blog and it is darling!

You are so sweet. Thanks for the mention. I used to have one of those sharks when we had our old house which was all tile too. It is great because it doesn't require cleaners just water so less toxic. I caved last night after a busy rough day and picked up pizza but it was so good. Nice treat. I just couldn't face a dinner and dirty kitchen after the hectic day and last few weeks. The fam was happy. A break is needed every once in a while for sure.
