The Southwest is not for me........

We are back from our trip to Arizona State University and all I can say about Tempe, AZ is HOT HOT HOT. I live in the desert (in California) but I have never experienced 117 degrees with no breeze. It was a great trip with my sweet daughter (we didn't fight once) and we both came away from the orientation with the same feeling that her college life is going to be great!!! Go Sun Devils!

I received a package today from Emily at Victorian Petals and I was so excited to find much more than I ordered. She lovingly wrapped the items in white tissue paper, tied a sweet ribbon around them and embellished one of them with my intial....in pearls no less.......those little details make such a difference and although I wouldn't expect it everytime I ordered, I am more likely to visit her online boutique again and again.

The napkins with roses all over them are so beautiful. I certainly won't be using them, they are much too pretty. She included some sweet note cards with my initial on them and a journal that says "enjoy the little things in life". I must say after losing my dear dad, I see life so differently and do indeed enjoy simple little things that seemed so unimportant before his passing. Still hard to think of him in the "past tense". This package certainly lifted my spirits.

Gotta have a "favorite thing" right? Well I just love, love, love this dainty and adorable little teacup and saucer. I always drool when I read other bloggers posts that showcase their collection of teacups and although I do not collect them, I certainly cherish the ones I have and love to display them. Drop on by and visit emily at Victorian Petals, I am sure you will find some treasures too.

Happy 4th of July to you and yours,

Debbie Kay

My daughter loves ASU...she spent her first year in the Hassayampa dorms. These dorms are only a few years old and extremely nice. She got an apartment with 3 other girls right on University for next year. We will be bringing her back around Aug 21st.

As for the heat...let me just say that when we were moving her in I thought I was gonna faint! It was hotter than you know what. I live in a hot hot part of CA but that AZ heat is something else.

Take care and have a happy 4th. If your daughter has any questions about ASU, I'm sure my daughter would love to help her out.

Welcome home! I'm so happy you had a nice trip with your daughter. I'm sure it will be trip she remembers always.

Love your little box of goodies. Funny, I got one from her too and was also thrilled with the way the items were wrapped and the little gifts were so sweet.

I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July. Also, remember, your dad is your dad always and you NEVER have to refer to him as past tense. He will be alive in your heart forever.

God bless you!
Joanne

It was wonderful to talk to you the other day, wish it could of been longer...call me again soon!
Sorry about the horrible heat you were in there, hopefully it will cool down by the time school starts!

The post on your dad was so moving, what a great man he was, I know he meant the world to you...what a blessing to have a father like that, it makes it so easy to love the Lord like a father when our earthly ones are awesome!
Bless you dear Debbie, I am praying for you, and your on my heart everyday!
